Easier-to-read Bible translations
The King James is a respected Bible translation, but its older English can be hard to understand. Newer translations use today’s English and draw on later manuscript discoveries and language research to make some passages clearer or more accurate. Some King James defenders dispute some of the changes and argue that the traditional wordings belong in the Bible.
Surveys show fewer Americans choose the King James than a decade ago.
Two passages that differ: 1 John 5:7 and Mark 16:9-20.
